On Easter Sunday!

Car Plows Into Florida Church, Injuring 21

A car slammed into a Florida church packed for an Easter service on Sunday evening, injuring 21 people, officials said.
A preliminary investigation showed that the unidentified female driver of the Lexus sedan reported a brake failure, said Lt. Victor Medico of the Fort Myers Police Department. The crash happened at about 8 p.m.
"At this point we are treating this as a very unfortunate accident rather than a criminal act," Medico said.
The victims were taken to three different hospitals, said Benjamin Abes, the operations chief for Lee County Emergency Medical Services. He said some were severely injured and others had very minor injuries.
The car drove over several parishioners after barreling through a concrete wall, witnesses toldNBC affiliate WBBH in Fort Lauderdale.
Parishioners used vehicle jacks and "brute force to lift the vehicle in order to rescue several people trapped beneath the car," Medico said.
