Former McDonald's Worker Gets Prison Time for Spitting in Officer's Food

A Washington man will spend more than two years behind bars for a nasty prank he played on a police officer while working at McDonald's. His crime? He spit into the officer's wrap and served it to him.
As reported in Iron Mountain Daily News, Dalton Ursulean, 24, was sentenced to 29 months in prison for the incident, which occurred in August 2012. If it weren't enough that he hocked a loogie into the cop's food, it turns out that Ursulean also tested positive for Hepatitis C. According to Iron Mountain Daily News, it is a felony to place "harmful objects" in food.
Ursulean, who has already been incarcerated since his arrest in August 2012, claimed he had no idea he was infected with Hepatitis C. His attorney, Geoffrey Sparks, told the judge, "He was very alarmed when he found out about it." According to his attorney, Ursulean is now aware that his actions were "dumb and disgusting."
Thankfully the officer who consumed the spit-sandwich tested negative for the disease. However, according to the court, since the incident he has been fearful of "blood-borne pathogens" and requested that Ursulean get the maximum penalty. Despite his apology and his completion of his GED over these last 347 days in jail, Judge Mary Barglind noted that Ursuelan had nine incidents while incarcerated, and already had a number of misdemeanors and felonies on his record. Ursuelan has been sentenced to a minimum of 29 months in prison.
