Johnny Getting Old, She's Young and Pretty

So, what is it that draws Johnny Depp to newly mintedfiancée Amber Heard, besides the obvious (she's nearly half his age and a nubile blonde)? People magazine has the answer, courtesy of several insiders who break down what led the "lovestruck" A-lister to pop the question to his under-the-radar girlfriend of two years.
"Amber is a female version of Johnny," opines a Depp
source. "She's sort of kooky and outspoken, and while that would intimidate many guys, it is a turn-on for Johnny."
Adds another, "A woman who shares his quirks is tough to find."
(Anyone else wonder if "quirks" is code for, say, "enjoys making out to Barry Manilow beneath a large portrait of Hunter S. Thompson"? Just us? OK, moving on …)
"Amber has a mind of her own and doesn't go with the flow," explains a longtime Depp associate. "This chick challenges him on many levels, and that has changed his attitude on settling down."
What do others have to say about "this chick," a so-called "free-spirit" who met the megastar on the set of 2011's "Rum Diary," when Depp was still with longtime partner Vanessa Paradis, and Heard was in a four-year relationship female photographer Tasya Van Ree?
"Amber has called the shots since day once -- dictating when they went public, for example," alleges a spy. "She's half his age, and that's part of why he'll do whatever she wants in order to keep her."
But don't let that flapping red flag dampen your enthusiasm for their engagement. Read on for more ...less
