Newlyweds' trip down the aisle is a fairy tale 75 years in the making

Last weekend, George Raynes and Carol Harris married in Saint John, New Brunswick. The two met in grade school and, at age 8, they were each other's first kiss. (It was during a school production of "Sleeping Beauty.") The couple are now both 83. After high school, Raynes moved to Ontario, got married and raised a family. Harris stayed in Saint John but never married. The two always kept in touch, though. After Raynes' wife of 61 years died, he came back to Saint John for a visit, and he and Harris fell in love. Raynes proposed during a romantic dinner in Ontario. "He suggested that we had had a great time and we had always been good friends and why don't we spend the rest of our lives together," Harris told the CBC. "I can't help but think … that my prince from Grade 3 has finally come home to stay."
