Police at the scene of an apparent murder-suicide in Brooklyn today.
A 43-year-old NYPD officer -- upset that her live-in boyfriend was moving back to Guyana -- today fatally shot him and then killed both their one-year-old son and herself in their Brooklyn apartment as her teenage son frantically fled out a back window, according to authorities and sources.
The dead cop, Rosette Samuel, had served 13 years on the Police Department, and had a clean disciplinary record, according to sources.
Her boyfriend was identified as 33-year-old Dason Peters, and their baby as Dylan Samuel-Peters.
"She was upset that the boyfriend was leaving her and going back to Guyana," a source said of Samuel and Peters. "She left a note."
Peters' mom rushed to the scene at 807 E. 56th Street in Flatlands after getting the news.
"My son is my heart. My son is my everything. What a loving son I had," wailed Peters' mom. "Oh, my God. What a loving son I had."
A cop who had worked with Samuel in the Manhattan traffic division before Samuel transferred to the 108th Precinct in Long Island City in January, said, "This is unbelievable."
"She was tight with everyone here. It wasn't her. Sometimes people snap," that cop said. "Post-partum depression is the first thing that came to my mind. Didn't show any signs of it."
Police sources said, without identifying Samuel by name, said authorities were investigating what appeared to be a murder-suicide by a female cop and that all three victims -- the cop, her boyfriend and her 1-year-old child -- died from gunshot wounds.
Other sources identified the cop as Samuel.
The killings occurred just before 8:30 a.m. in Samuel's first-floor apartment on E. 56th St. near Farragut Road in Flatlands.
Witnesses said they saw Samuel's 19-year-old son Dondre Samuel, a biology student at Kingsborough Community College, frantically climbing out of the back window of that apartment wearing a pair of shorts and no shirt, just an Addidas jacket.
"He was shaken up," said Anthony Beckford, 19. "My uncle asked what happened . . . he was all scraped up and he ran into the backyard. His elbows and his knees were scraped. He said, 'Look, look!'"
"He was frantic. He couldn't really talk," Beckford said of Dondre, who is Samuel's son from a prior relationship.
When Beckford looked at the front of the apartment, near the front door, he saw the body of Samuel's boyfriend Peters, lying on the floor.
"I just the his head, and the top part of his body," Beckford said. "He was facing down, surrounded by blood."
When cops responded to a 911 call from the scene from Dondre, then went inside and found the horrific carnage.
After finding Peters' body in the entryway, police went into the bedroom of the apartment.
There, they found Samuel dead on the bed, along with Dylan, her baby with Peters.
Area resident Ionize Brownn-Johnson, 73, said "Right now I’m still shaking. I'm just asking myself what could be the cause of her doing that."
"She looked loving with the baby. She walked with the child in her arms. She walked with the child in her stroller," Brownn-Johnson said. "In October I greeted her with the baby. She looked very happy with her baby."
At the Manhattan traffic division, former co-workers of Samuel were receiving counseling.
"They're talking to all the cops now" said a cop there.
Another employee there said, "I don't want to talk about it. I'm overwhelmed by the situation and I don't want to get too emotional."
A second worker there said, "Everyone right now is in a state of shock."
