How far would you be willing to go to punish your soon-to-be ex? Think about what you'd do, then go several million steps past that and you'll be in Earl Ray Jones' neighborhood. The Colorado man claims that in May, he emptied his joint retirement and savings accounts, converting more than $500,000 in cash to gold before throwing it away in a dumpster — all so his wife couldn't have a penny of it. "We say that when people are divorcing, they enter a state of temporary insanity," Jones said during his deposition. "But on a scale of 1 to 10, this is my 10." He has records from an Arizona precious-metals dealer proving that he did convert the cash, but not everyone believes that he tossed it all in the trash. Jones is sticking to his story, though.
