Critics fired up over hospitals' policy to not hire smokers

People who can remember when America was a free country are inflamed by a new policy being adopted by hospitals in Philadelphia which would forbid the hiring of tobacco smokers whether they light up at work or not. From July 1, facilities under the Penn umbrella will rely on job applicants' word that they don't smoke, while the children's hospital will go as far as testing jobseekers. Civil liberties activists are up in arms over the move, calling it a step on a slippery slope of intrusion.
