Lindsey Vonn has suffered multiple injuries since February 2013 that have prevented her from participating in the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, but she has found comfort in her personal relationship with golfer Tiger Woods.
Vonn, who tore her ACL in February 2013 and underwent a major knee injury in November, has been in and out of rehab for almost a year.
"He's helped me stay patient through rehab," Vonn said regarding Woods in the February issue of SELF magazine. "He helped me take it one day at a time."
Woods and Vonn have been dating since early 2013, following her divorce from her former coach, Thomas Vonn.
"I wasn't sure if I was strong enough to be on my own, but I found out I am. Now I'm in charge of my whole life," she said.
Vonn has endured clinical depression for many years, but she credits Woods with boosting her mood and outlook. She believes that her year with Woods has made her "the happiest [she's] ever been."
"We're good for each other," Vonn said. "I don't know what he's learned from me, to be honest. But we push each other and help each other when we're down."
Although Vonn will not be competing in Sochi, she will be present at the games as an Olympic correspondent for "Today" and NBC Sports.
