A new billboard in the Highlands neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky is sparking controversy. The ad that reads, “Not everyone who is gay is happy. You have options,” was placed by Abba’s Delight Christian Ministry.

Daniel Mingo, the ministry’s founder told WDRB News that the group, “…helps people of faith who are uncomfortable with their same-sex attractions.” He says that the ministry’s goal is “…to disciple them so God can work in their lives and do whatever character changes he wants to do.”
Mingo explained that he is well suited to provide guidance to those in that situation because he, "…walked away from homosexuality 21 years ago…because I knew it wasn't in line with God's will for my life."

While Mingo says that the billboard was put in place as a message of love and they are not trying to change anyone who is happy being gay, Chris Hartman of the Fairness Campaign in Louisville disagrees. Hartman said the message is offensive and, "To suggest that this organization is going to help anyone is an exact obfuscation of the truth, it's the opposite. They're going to harm 90 percent of the people that walk in and out of their door."
Hartman isn’t the only one who is upset by the Abba’s Delight billboard, in fact some of them have been vocal about sharing their opinions by contactingMingo. The ministry head told WLKY News, “Some of the things that have been said in voicemail messages that are left, you would not be able to put on the air, they’re so vulgar."

Hartman said, "I'm surprised that he's still peddling this venomous snake oil to people who are really struggling.” The Fairness Campaign Director went on to tell WHAS 11 News, “If someone is experiencing same gender attraction or believes that they're lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender and is struggling with it they should see a licensed therapist.”
Despite the controversy, the ministry has no plans to take it down and it will remain up for 90 days.
