It is a Crime to Laugh

Man faces jail time or fine for laughing too loudly in his own home

No LOLs here. Long Island man Robert Schiavelli has been issued two summonses after his next-door neighbor complained he was laughing too loudly in his own home. Schiavelli, who suffers from frequent seizures and neurological impairments and graduated from high school as a special education student, says his neighbor frequently mocks him, calling him a "retard," and that his best defense is to laugh it off. But he can't laugh off his disturbing-the-peace tickets: He's facing $500 in fines or 30 days in jail. "It's absurd," his lawyer says. "The last time I checked, it was not a crime to laugh." [Source]
