Note to a friend
I
am so blessed to have you as a friend
And
so deeply honored to share in your life and your pain
I
am, also, honored to offer you a theological perspective
On knowledge, wisdom and understanding
King Solomon, the wisest man on earth
during his period, wrote in the Book of Proverbs 4; 7, “Wisdom is the principal
thing; therefore get wisdom: but in all thy GETTING, get UNDERSTANDING”.
There
is a relationship between knowledge, wisdom and understanding.
Knowledge
contains the word “to know”.
Wisdom
is knowing how to use knowledge
Solomon exercised his wisdom when two
mothers had a baby and one of the babies died. Both claimed to be the mother of
the living baby. Solomon said, “Cut the baby in half and give half to each
claimant. The real mother fell on the baby and said let her have it. Solomon
said, “She’s the real mother, let her have it.
Therefore
wisdom is the practical application of knowledge
Understanding
is more profound because it is a matter of the heart.
A mother losing a child in death is said to be the worse human pain.
Ordinary persons feel the pain of
a mother losing her child in death.
But if one has never lost a child in death
Does one really understand such a
pain?
Understanding is a matter of the heart
Understanding is indeed one of the greatest virtues!!
And in time
We all shall have a greater understanding
For now, we see through a glass
darkly
