Meredith Vieira's talk show is still a year off from its premiere, but the upcoming entry has already sold to more than 60 percent of the country, NBC Universal Domestic Television and NBC Broadcast Operations president Ed Swindler said Monday.
The one-hour "The Meredith Vieira Show" has been sold in the nation's top markets to station groups including NBC Owned Television Stations, as well as Hearst Television, Sinclair Broadcast Group, LIN Media, Cordillera Communications, Gray Television, among others.
Calling the response to the upcoming show "tremendous," Swindler credited Vieira's "genuine relationship with the daytime viewer" for the robust sales, adding: "Her authentic, fun and down-to-earth style creates an instant connection with the (audience)."
The syndicated offering from the former "Today" and "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" host, which premieres in fall 2014 and will be produced in New York on a set made to resemble Vieira's home, is billed as "a mix of feel-good human-interest stories — from everyday people to celebrity guests who have an important story to tell, lifestyle segments and key topics that highlight Vieira's warm, relatable and distinctive personality."
