Restaurant Sells $235 Bacon Sandwich
Bacon isn't typically thought of as a fancy ingredient. In the past it's been piled onto fast-food burgers, used as a taco shell, and added to a plethora of unlikely products such asmilkshakes and syrup. But one costly sandwich (and a sprinkle of edible gold dust) might just change the breakfast meat's reputation.
According to the World Record Academy, the record for the most expensive bacon sandwich in the world was recently broken. The sandwich in question is a pricey 150 euro ($235) bite served at a restaurant in England.
Tangberrys café owner, Paul Philips, invented the sandwich. His creation includes eggs, watercress, and a rare breed bacon, but also has black truffle spread, sliced truffles, edible gold dust, and saffron. The sandwich is also cooked in truffle oil. Together all the ingredients for the Bacon Bling sandwich cost around 50 euro.
While there is currently no Guinness world record for most expensive bacon sandwich, Paul Philips is hoping a new category is created for his dish, dubbed Bacon Bling on the Tangberrys menu. All proceeds made from Bacon Bling sales will go to two British charities: SKRUM and the Regular
