Hurricane Irma and My Mother's 90th birthday

My Mother Celebrated Her 90th Birthday, October 1st

Congratulations to her on this milestone in her life

And everyone else that is 90 years old

What a life achievement and especially to be in good health

She walks faster than any of

Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren

The great great grandchild is only 4 years old!

She is in great health and has recently become an advocate

For the homeless and for better public transportation

In the city of Baltimore

She is an invited guest to speak on talk shows about the problems

She is on the front line of walking demonstrations for these causes

I’m amazed at what she is doing

While I was visiting, I proofread one of her essays for a radio talk show

It was perfect in every sense

At 90, mind you!!

While in Medellin Colombia,

There was no way that I was going to miss her 90th birthday

So I planned to spend a week with her

A week with my mother is like a lifetime!

Just an overflow saturation of just too many things!! haha

Thanks to getting caught in Miami in hurricane Irma

A seven day planned trip became a 21 day one

I was in a mandated hurricane shelter in Miami for five days

It was one of the worst five experiences in my life!!

Airlines cancelled all flights

After jacking ticket prices from $100 to $1000 the day before

But later rescinded the immoral jack of prices

I was one of 1800 persons, prisoners in a hurricane shelter

Without a working generator, therefore no electricity, no air conditioning!!

Florida should ALWAYS be prepared!!

Considering the history of such events in the state

So I ended up spending 21 days with my mother, night and day!!!!!!!!!

As she spoke of things from alpha and omega, the beginning and the ending

And everything in between!

I may be my mother’s favorite

But even favorite children have their limits!!

So blessed was the day that I could be on my way

I chose Lima to start to spend time with friends and acquaintances
