Has anyone had their child on Risperdal?

My child was just diagnosed almost two months ago with Aspergers. He was prescribed a medicine (don't remember the name) that did not work and now the doctor wants to put him on Risperdal. She told us there were quite a few scary side affects. So, I'm wondering if any of your children have used it, and if so, did it work and did they have any major side affects to it. Thanks.
