Texas clerk charged in fatal shooting of alleged shoplifter

ARLINGTON, TEXAS – Police say a North Texas tobacco store clerk has been charged in the fatal shooting of a suspected shoplifter.
Arlington City Jail records show 28-year-old Johnathan Brian Lambert of River Oaks was being held without bond Wednesday on a murder charge. Online jail records do not list an attorney for Lambert, who was booked several hours after the shooting Tuesday morning.
Arlington police say detectives believe Lambert was under no direct threat from the suspect when he opened fire.
The name of the man who died wasn't immediately released.
