3 MORE ARRESTS: Boston terror case deepens
Three new suspects in the Boston bombing case are in custody after being arrested Wednesday, according to Boston police.
The three men are charged with making false statements to law enforcement and conspiracy to obstruct justice.
Two of the suspects were reportedly classmates of accused bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and are accused of lying to investigators about knowing his whereabouts and whether they had seen one or both of the Tsarnaev brothers in the days following the attack, according to two government sources who spoke with CNN's Susan Candiotti.
Those two classmates are students from Kazakhstan, and sources tell CNN the third person arrested is an American citizen.
The same government sources told Candiotti that the obstruction of justice charge is related to the suspects allegedly removing or throwing away items from the dorm room they shared with Dzhokhar Tsarvaev.
A photograph taken last December shows Tsarnaev and the two Kazakh students together in Times Square, along with two other people.
It's not believed that the suspects had a role in the bombings themselves. Attorney Alan Dershowitz said on CNN that the "charges relate to what they did after the bombing occurred and they're serious crimes."
All three men may appear Wednesday afternoon in a Boston courtroom.
News of the arrests was tweeted out by the Boston Police Department, along with a notice that the suspects do not represent a new threat to the public.
