College student makes a statement with final payment
Andrew Magbee worked for every cent of his education at Oklahoma's Southwestern Christian University, and he wanted the school to know it, making his final payment of $974 in 500 pounds of pennies. "I collected aluminum cans and I turned them in for scrap metal, I started a little sandwich shop, I mowed lawns, I painted houses." The symbolic delivery was a milestone for Magbee that also sent a message: "Pennies add up. Being frugal counts."
