You could say The Toronto Star columnist writing about Olympic ice dancing is not happy.
After US pair Meryl Davis and Charlie White beat out Canadians Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir to claim the gold medal on Monday, the Star's writer Rosie DiManno let loose on the sport and the judges.
The piece started with some bite, describing ice dancing as "a tawdry whore of a sport where the judges are the johns."
DiManno was just getting warmed up. She continued, "If the fix is not in against Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, then I’m the Princess of Wales."
Earlier in the competition, a report in the French sports publication L'Equipe was circling that the Russian and American judges were in cahoots against Canada to help each other win gold medals -- Russia in the team competition, the United States in ice dancing.
The IOC refused to investigate those claims, declaring they were merely groundless gossip.

It's not that Meryl Davis and Charlie White don't deserve the recognition they have been getting, they are the reigning world champions and were favorites to win gold.
Whether you believe in the scandal or not, DiManno has come to a harsh conclusion about figure skating:
"A quarter-century of covering the sport has taught me that figure skating can never be trusted and ice dancing is the worst culprit."
